Zoe Hooper (year 10) took out two races at the Canterbury children's championships at Ngā Puna Wai in the weekend.
Zoe—who had a number of outstanding performances at secondary school events last year, including a gold and a bronze at South Island secondary schools championships in the 100m and 200m—represented the Selwyn Athletic Club at the championships and took the 100m and 200m titles, the latter in a season's best performance of 26.84s.
Judah Lodoviko (year 11) also had excellent performances across a range of events, winning the boys' 400m, 800m and 1500m—an insane treble—and also competing well in high and long jumps, discus and the 100m and 200m.
We are looking forward to watching their performances in the upcoming Canterbury secondary schools events, with preliminary events on Tuesday 18 March and finals on Friday 21 March.
