Employment outcomes

Today we're shining the spotlight on a few of the amazing outcomes we have had recently as a result of learners starting out on a work experience position. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities these employers give our learners:

  • Thorrington Village: a year 13 learner on a nursing pathway has secured casual work at the retirement village following some amazing work experience in term three.

  • Burns Building: an apprenticeship has been offered to our year 12 builder after a one day a week placement in term three where we also have a Rolleston College alum currently in his second year of an apprenticeship.

  • The Warehouse: after a five-day placement through the Gateway programme in August, a year 12 has been offered a part-time role for the holiday period.

  • Ballance Agri-Nutrients: following some work experience to help with gaining some time on a forklift, a year 13 learner has now secured a full time permanent contract.

Adult entry to university

Once you turn 20 years you do NOT require university entrance through NCEA or equivalent secondary school study to be accepted into university. This may be an option for those who miss out on gaining UE this year, or who decide later on to study at university. Most universities offer short certificate programmes to get back into the swing of academic study.
