Ready to Learn

Ready to Learn (R2L) is about establishing a flourishing learning environment for everyone. Rolleston College does this by teaching desirable behaviours, improving behaviour support systems for learners and increasing positive interactions with learners. We use data for decision making and work on decreasing reactive management. School-wide expectations have been developed through consultation with staff and learners and a matrix of the expected behaviours in different environments (learning spaces, library, gymnasium, on field trips, etc) is displayed on posters around the school. We spend time teaching expected behaviours, and R2L expectations are outlined at the start of each lesson.

Ready to Achieve

Ready to Achieve (R2A) all about ensuring that learners have what they need to succeed within their chosen pathway. Learners are guided by a variety of different staff to ensure that they are able to access learning that is relevant to them, and supportive of their goals. Ako coaches are trained to provide advice and support that assist learners in their pathways. Teachers are experts in their within their fields, providing learning opportunities that ensure are able to access materials relevant and to their ability. Our careers team is there to assist learners in finding pathways that are relevant and catered towards their interests. The team can also assist with setting up tasters and experiences to ensure learners have tried it all!

Ready to Flourish

Wellbeing is something sought by just about everyone, because it includes so many positive things—feeling happy, healthy, socially connected, and purposeful. Wellbeing is linked to happiness and builds resilience to get through the tough times and enables us to flourish. Ready to Flourish (R2F) is an essential part of our college curriculum and culture that is woven into our learning vehicles. We want everyone to feel good and function well. It is part of our mission at Rolleston College to ensure that every learner is able to stand and succeed as the individual they are, and have the tools to flourish.

SchoolTV: a wellbeing resource

“It’s never been more challenging for parents to raise happy, healthy and resilient children.”

Like never before, parents need to be informed with clear, fact-based information on the many challenges faced by today’s youth. Topics such as youth anxiety, depression, self-harm, drug and alcohol use, cyberbullying and many others need clear explanation and guidance.

SchoolTV is a new ongoing resource that is now available to Rolleston College parents. Each edition will address a major topic with expert interviews, fact sheets, parent quiz, recommended apps, books and much more. SchoolTV provides a single stream of independent factual information that saves parents time and confusion of searching online across multiple sites for information.

We hope you enjoy this valuable resource which will be regularly updated throughout the year with new topics.
