Nau mai, haere mai ki Horoeka Haemata!

We are so excited to have you and your whānau join us at Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata. The transitions team have thoroughly enjoyed meeting your child at their year 8 interview, or at their primary school during visits.

We are sure your child will be now really looking forward to the next set of transition events as their time at primary school is coming to a close.

Transition events allow you and your child to become familiar with our school and meet key staff who will support them at various stages in their journey at Rolleston College.

Course selection

Choosing Selected courses is an exciting opportunity for your child to explore their interests and expand their knowledge.

Follow these steps to learn about course options and to select year 9 courses for 2025. Please complete course selection by Friday 6 December 2024.

We encourage you to talk to your child and remember that this is an opportunity to learn across a wide range of areas so, it does not define their post-school life. By considering passions, seeking guidance, finding a balance, and being open to new experiences, they can make informed choices that will make the next step of their learning journey enjoyable and fulfilling. Remember, it's all about discovering interests and enjoying the learning process along the way!

Upcoming events

Thursday 12 December 2024: Year 8 welcome morning (arrive 8:30-8:45am; finishes at midday)

The welcome morning provides an opportunity for our year 9 2025 cohort to understand what Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata is all about.

They will be able to build relationships with key staff by participating in various orientation activities designed to enable them to get to know each other.

Your child is to wear their primary school uniform to this event.

Friday 31 January 2025: Year 9 orientation day

The year 9 orientation day begins with a mihi whakatau—whānau and/or caregivers are invited to attend. Please assemble by 8:45 am in the plaza beside the astroturf. The mihi whakatau will start at 8:50 am.

From here the rest of the day is aimed at supporting our new learners to settle into the school, learn about their timetable, meet their Ako coach and start building strong relationships with their new teachers.

Monday 3 February 2025: First full school day for all learners

The school timetable begins on day 1 at 8:50am.
