Principal's pānui

Ko te pae tawhiti whāia kia tata, ko te pae tata whakamaua kia tina

Seek out distant horizons and cherish those you attain

This seems an appropriate whakataukī for this special time of year as we farewell our senior learners as they head off to exams.

Yesterday’s year 11 prizegiving followed by the senior prizegiving really showcased the truly outstanding talent that our learners possess. Thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who were able to come along and share in the success of their children at school.

On Tuesday night I was privileged to be able to go to the YES regional finals to support the four groups from Rolleston College who made this final. While we did not progress to the national final this year, it was outstanding to see the level of creativity and out of the box thinking paired with a real concern for social enterprise that came from the Rolleston College groups.

We were especially proud of Lucy Dunnlogan for her regional award. What set our groups apart from some of the others was that they had all gone to market and had made profits and had a running business, rather than just a good idea that could become a business in time.

Good luck to the seniors for their exams and we look forward to seeing many of them at the tutorial sessions across next week.
