Tēnā koutou e te whānau,

We appreciate your support in what has been a difficult week for the Rolleston College whānau and community.

We have been building a collective action campaign including a submission form for whānau and concerned community members to complete, an online petition to the Ministry of Education, and we will hold our first whānau meeting next Wednesday 13 March.

Submission form

Please submit your feedback for the Ministry including concerns and aspirations for the new campus. We'd love to share some of your voices on social media, please let us know on the form if you'd prefer this to be anonymous. We will collate responses and send to the Ministry next week. The deadline for submissions is Thursday 14 March.

Some of the responses so far:

"The school's role continues to grow annually, and a two-year delay in the project could have detrimental effects on the learning outcomes of all students. Research supports the positive impact of smaller classroom sizes, fostering a more favourable teacher-to-student ratio. Furthermore, the provision of quality facilities is recognised as instrumental in enhancing the learning experience." – Claire Bason, parent

"The new site is a necessity not a nice to have, Rolleston is growing by the day—come and see it for yourselves, spend a couple of days in the environment you are expecting our young people and their teachers to learn and teach in before committing to these changes. If you really want to deliver a world-class education you need to take into account the environment you are trying to deliver it in, and we as a community have no appetite for your current proposal." – Keziah Herd, parent

"Rolleston needs Rolleston College to be a strong pillar of our community. I feel our children will be disadvantaged in their learning and development if the second campus is not build as intended. We need Rolleston College to grow as the community grows and this can only be done with a second campus built to a high standard." – Nick Dovey, Rolleston parent with children who will attend Rolleston College in the future

Petition

Our online petition is gaining momentum and we'd love for you to add your name. The more names the better, so share it with your community networks!

Whānau meeting

Register to attend our first whānau meeting at 6pm on Wednesday 13 March. This is a space for you to share your questions and concerns, and hear from our staff and other community members.

Website

Our Senior Campus webpage is your source of information about developments in the space. Check back regularly to see news and media, and upcoming collective action opportunities. We'll share these updates in The Lancewood each week.

Your contributions to our campaign are crucial in ensuring the best possible education for our tamariki and rangatahi, now and in the future.
